A Real Trooper! -Scribbletime Newborn Photography

I love it when my friends have babies! This little 5 lb. sweetheart was a real trooper for her photo shoot...she slept the entire time and I think she set a record for the quickest photo session I've done to date!

She gave little grunts every now and then when we moved her, but other than that she was just as content as could be. Congratulations to her parents & big sister!

Behind The Scenes at Scribbletime Photography

Wow! I've neglected the Scribbletime blog lately, but for good reasons! Lots of things have been happening behind the scenes that will help Scribbletime Photography become even better.

First and most exciting....I have achieved a huge goal for Scribbletime! I am now an official member of the PPA Professional Photographers of America. The PPA is the "world's largest non-profit association for professional photographers". Membership with the PPA is an investment that photographers make who are truly committed to professionalism.

I recently attended a workshop and got to hear the President of the PPA speak about the organization, its education and resources. One point that stuck with me from that workshop is that so many people get a digital camera for Christmas and "poof" they are suddenly a self-proclaimed "photographer". A professional photographer has the responsibility to make a dedicated investment in mastering the craft and running a successful business. How can you tell if someone is a professional photographer? There's a lot more to it than just a website and a business license!!

Here's one thing you may not think about as a customer....portrait and wedding photographers need some type of coverage to protect them if something disastrous happens affecting a shoot. Membership with the PPA provides that type of protection, which is peace of mind for the customer (especially if you're a bride) in case of a mishap or equipment malfunction.

There are probably at least a hundred photographers to choose from across the CSRA, so please check out the "Find A Photographer" tool on the PPA website to view a listing of the professionals in your zip code.

Membership with the PPA is definitely a huge investment towards mastering photography as an art and as a business. For me, being a member of the PPA is a COMMITMENT to my customers that I will always strive to maintain a level of expertise which will allow me to capture the highest quality images of your little sweethearts...your little masterpieces!

And now for all the other behind the scenes happenings...

I have been taking a class and devoting a lot of energy and time towards learning more about the advanced technical aspects of photography. I might be 90 years old before I learn everything about this art! There is SO MUCH information, but it will all make Scribbletime even better!

There are some shoots going on that I can't yet share on the Scribbletime blog or website, but I will be able to show them to you by the end of the year hopefully! It's all so exciting and it's just killing me not to be able to share with you yet!

And finally, I've been devoting a lot of time to my family, especially since my sweet son is about to start preschool. Over the past month or so, we've had a family issue unfold, and I'll be sharing the details of that with you soon. It's something bittersweet, and you'll understand what I mean after you read all about it in a future blog post!

Remember the 10/10/10 birthday giveaway is still going on! There is still time to find some kids who are turning 10 on October 10, 2010!!! Instead of me repeating all the details, go to this blog post: http://blog.scribbletime.com/2010/07/10-10-10-birthday-giveaway.html

September is getting full fast, but I still have a few openings.

Take care and I promise I'll actually be posting pictures instead of just words soon!! haha!

On The Farm - Columbia County GA Photography

I had a change of pace this week when I traveled all the way to the other side of Columbia County to my friend's house trying to beat a thunderstorm headed our way (and who knew it could take almost 45 minutes to drive across the county?). It was already thundering when I got there...the clouds were so dark and the air was so full of moisture that I just knew the sky was going to open up any second.

But we got lucky, and it turned out to be a unique session in a lot of ways. The obvious reason is because it was a little different from my usual baby sessions! I am giggling as I put this picture of a cow on the Scribbletime blog. Definitely a change of pace for me!!!

All of the cows (there were too many for me to keep up with) were raised by this 16 year old guy...he has been raising cows his entire life. Can you believe that?!! I was so impressed.

His sister is more of a horse kind of gal. It was amazing how she got "Blaze" to do exactly what I wanted with ease.

Another reason this was so unique is because I got to bring my kids with me! As soon as we got there, I handed my 4 year old a camera. It was fun looking through his pictures...he did a great job of composing the shots (this kid really has an eye!!), and I came across one in particular that I am very fond of....I think he's hired!
